How does the
brochure design process work? Bath, UK based Lunatrix
Design, have over 15 years industry experience in brochure
design and booklet layout. Compiling a product brochure
from scratch can be a daunting process. At Lunatrix we aim
to make the procedure as simple as possible by helping you
every step of the way. the first thing to establish is what
is the intended brochure or leaflet aimed to do? If this
seems an obvious question think of where you might see you
brochure being read. If it is going to be mailed out to
prospective customers then something lightweight such as
a trifold A4 design or 4 page A5 leaflet might be the most
cost effective way of sending out the information. If you
have many products that you want to showcase it might be
worth thinking about a glossy brochure with higher production
levels. A nice spot UV finish on a matt laminated cover
for example. Always remember that for compiled stitched
booklets and brochures the page size needs to be divisible
by four and ideally by sixteen for larger page sized documents
for most economical print runs. If in doubt Lunatrix can
help advise you which particular print format would work
best within your budget. The next stage of the brochure
design process is compiling content and arranging sections
to be read. At this stage its also worth thinking about
product photography. For best print quality its vitally
important to have high image resolution, 300 dpi saved to
CMYK format. Lunatrix can aid in setting up any photo shoots
neccesary and also providing a copywriting service and sub
editing if you are having difficulty with any of these elements.
Then the next stage would be for Lunatrix to put some page
design layouts together for approval once these are approved
the main body of layout design should fall into place quite
easily. To finish off the brochure any final amends would
be dealt with and the finished artwork will be assembled
ready for print.
